What training is needed for the FL Concealed Weapons Permit?
The State of Florida requires any person who applies for the CWP to have some weapons training. The Hunters Safety Course, Firearms Safety Course, or any equivalent firearms training with Security, Law enforcement or Military service. Refer to F.S.S 790.06 The Basic Firearms Safety Training offered by RBT meets this training requirement.
Do I need to own a firearms to attend training?
You do not need to own a weapon to attend the Basic Firearm Training. The basic class covers firearms familiarization and talks about the advantages and disadvantages of different style handguns. For the Basic Firearms Class a gun with ammo is provided at no additional cost.
Starting in 2021 RBT will offer the Concealed Weapons Training Class, aimed to increase a person's proficiency with their personal firearms. Weapons for this class will be not be provided.
Can I shoot my personal firearm at the Basic Firearm Training?
Attendees are allowed to shoot their personal weapons for the Basic Firearms Class as long as they bring ammo for the live shooting portion. Attendees are asked to bring at least 10 rounds of live ammo.
What is covered in the private lesson?
The instructor for the lesson tailors the training to the needs of the individual. Beginners will focus on handling, trigger control, loading & unloading, basic shooting drills, and weapons malfunction clearing.
Intermediate and advanced shooters will focus on trigger control, moving and shooting drills, multiple targets, precision shooting, and other skills wanting to be addressed by the attendee.
Does RBT offer training on cleaning and maintenance of handguns?
RBT will come to your home and assist you with how to properly maintain the handgun. The hour session will provide individual instruction on the proper maintenance, cleaning, and familiarization of your personally owned handguns.
